The
Infusions
from "The Story Thus Far"
Unfortunately, Aerlinthe has managed to keep its remaining secrets for the time
being. As Leafdawning drew to a close, the bulk of the invading force of fire
elementals still held the caldera of Mount Tenkarrdun. While many searched
unsuccessfully for some obscure, hidden method to end their reign, few seemed
willing to directly challenge them in open combat. Perhaps this was due to the
fierce conditions in the crater, or perhaps because what commanded the occupying
forces could not easily be discerned.
Red Fire Infusion
Based on this hint, the questers decided to plan another large scale assault on
the Fire Elementals in the caldera at Tenkarrdun. A direct assault proved to be
the key. As the forces attacked the fire elementals head on, they eventually
killed the creature who was controlling them. This elusive Hellfire was hidden
amongst the others, and had no distinguishable features. (Initially, it was 2
levels higher than the rest, so it was easier to pick out, but that changed with
the following update.) When the leader was slain a message was broadcast to the
surrounding area:
As [insert
name] smites the Hellfire, the flame-creatures sigh, and begin to disappear back
into the vents and fumaroles they surfaced through. But, from the base of the
mountains slopes, you hear the whisper of falling ash, and the clacking of
petrified bones...
On its corpse was a Red Fire Infusion.
White Fire Infusion
Shortly after the invasion was repelled at Tenkarrdun, reports started coming in
about a second invading force which had erupted out of Mt Espar. The whole
caldera had become infested with Infernos, Flammas, Magma Golems and Flares.
Somewhere in the middle stood a lone Firestorm, the obvious leader of the
invasion. The defending forces targeted firepower on the Firestorm and finally
managed to slay it. At its death a message was broadcast to the surrounding
area:
As [insert
name] smites the Firestorm, the flame-creatures sigh, and begin to disappear
back into the submerged vents and fumaroles they surfaced through. The lake of
Mount Espar is peaceful again.
When the Firestorm was slain, it dropped a White Fire Infusion as a trophy.
Blue Fire Infusion
The last Dereth volcano, Mt. Lethe, was also experiencing similar disruption. It
was also overrun with Fire Elementals: Firestorms, Magma Golems, Flammas, and
Infernos. After scouting the area, explorers spotted a lone Hellfire,
overlooking the action from high up on the volcano wall. Attackers managed to
lure it down off the wall and quickly slew it. At its death the following
message was broadcast to the area:
As [insert
name] smites the Hellfire, the subterranean creatures sigh, and begin to
disappear back into the vents and fumaroles they came up through. Mount Lethe is
peaceful again... or at least as peaceful as it ever gets.
The stricken Hellfire dropped a Blue Fire Infusion as a reward.
These infusions can be applied to the Sword of Lost Light to increase its
properties. The infusions cannot be dropped or given away.
